#39 Tricky IFR Departure out of Van Nuys in the Citation Mustang

In this weeks video we are flying a very tricky IFR departure out of Van Nuys in our customers Cessna Citation Mustang. In fact, this was a training flight my customer had requested. He needed to bring the airplane to our maintenance shop OCR AVIATION in Long Beach to repair the air conditioner and while Braden is a very proficient IFR pilot, he felt uncomfortable flying IFR from Van Nuys (KNVY) to Long Beach (KLGB) on his own, because things happen quickly and you need to be prepared.
As you can see you have to file a departure with certain waypoints in it but you only get cleared for a small portion of the departure before joining a TEC ROUTE (Tower Enroute). Most of the time, as in this video, ATC will just vector you onto the right airway V459 to head southeast bound.
You might remember my training flight with AKIKO out of Van Nuys in her Citation Mustang and the airplane almost turning right after take-off because we forgot to adjust the waypoints correctly in the FMS. (https://youtu.be/hLumP0djrSw?t=64)
