The Australian’s Troy Bramston says Prime Minister Scott Morrison penning a foreword to the book ‘God & Menzies’ is an “important signpost to this next election”.
“He’s issued a warning to fellow Australians of faith that they should not allow their faith to be diminished or undermined by people who don’t necessarily share their views,” Mr Bramston said.
“He’s calling for tolerance and people to defend their beliefs, within a context of understanding Robert Menzies was a man of faith and also that his moral character and moral ethos influenced the Liberal Party.
“So I think it’s an important intervention, and a warning to those political parties - particularly the Greens and some within Labor who have not always been as open and as tolerant about people with different religious beliefs as they were in the past.”
