Cruises have ‘done the work’ to ensure COVID-safe travel

Carnival Australia President Sture Myrmell says both P&0 and Carnival have “done the work” to make cruise ships a safe place for travel once Australia reopens.

Mr Myrmell has recently announced a plan for P&O and Carnival to re-start operations, with voyages only for vaccinated guests and crew.

“We have the protocols and the measures in place to safely restart cruise operation here in Australia," he told Sky News Australia.

“Now that the government has announced their four-phase plan, cruise needs to be part of that four-phase plan.

“As the vaccine levels increase and pick up pace around the country, there’s no reason why cruise can’t be part of that.

“We have restarted operation in many parts around the world, and we can do so here.”
