A whole bunch of the most beloved fast food chains in the United States started on the country's West Coast: McDonald's. Taco Bell. Panda Express. Starbucks. The list goes on. There's something about that Western mentality that facilitates unforgettable restaurant concepts.
And there could be plenty more where that came from. California, Washington and Oregon are teeming with regional fast food chains just waiting to break out into national success. They run the gamut from burgers and pizza to innovative salads and tacos. Some are relatively new upstarts, while at least one is a longstanding fast-food behemoth that staunchly refuses to move eastward.
