Apartment Gone to Pot

The plaintiff says she rented an apartment from the defendant and soon found it was unsuitable for her and her son because the neighbors were partying pot smokers and mail thieves. The plaintiff was let out of her lease, but the defendant kept some of the deposit, so she’s suing. The defendant says she has every right to withhold the money because the plaintiff broke the lease.
