
Resources Minister Keith Pitt says a net zero emissions target is about “getting the mix right”.
“We still rely on coal and gas for roughly 70 per cent of our energy production in this country and that’s going to continue for a long time,” Mr Pitt told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“It’s a pretty fundamental fact, intermittent wind and solar, well they don’t work if it’s dark and it doesn’t work if it’s not windy.
“I’m not sure why that’s a great revelation.”
