Ohouse found an opportunity in cookie-cutter flats

Ohouse, a social media-based platform for home interior design, is the No. 1 specialty online store in Korea in terms of monthly active users, according to WiseApp.

It is also the fourth largest app in Korea among all e-commerce apps in terms of downloads, after Coupang, 11st and Gmarket.

After launching in 2014, the app has been downloaded by more than 20 million users as of July.
Bucketplace, which runs the app, is one of Korea's growing unicorns, valued at over 1 trillion won.
On the Ohouse app, users can see how other people have decorated their homes. If users find interior items or furniture they like while browsing through posts uploaded by other people, they can buy them directly through the platform.

Users can get information on renovation services as well as simple fixes inside the house.

The Korea JoongAng Daily sat down with Lee Seung-jae, the CEO of Ohouse, to talk about the changes the app brought to the local home interior market.
