La costruzione "stare per + infinito" (= to be about to) indica un'azione imminente, che non รจ ancora cominciata, ma comincerร  tra poco.
Per esempio: Il treno sta per partire = The train is about to leave
Sta per piovere = It's about to rain
Sto per bere = I'm about to drink
Sto per uscire = I'm about to go out
Sto per bere = I'm about to drink - Sto bevendo = I'm drinking
Stanno per giocare = They are about to play - Stanno giocando = They are playing
