There are a lot of different philosophies on how bartenders charge for their time. My general rule is to include 1 to 2 hours of additional time for the hours requested by the customer for setup and cleanup (example: Event 4:00 – 8:00PM = 5hrs total service). While some customers do adjust their request to include setup and cleanup time, in my experience, 95% of customers that I deal with do not object to the additional of 1 to 2hrs on top of the time they request. Also, consider that some larger event and weddings will require additional planning time and consulting that is perfectly reasonable to charge for. ALWAYS remember that you are paid for your TIME, even when you are not in the act of pouring drinks!!! Here, I share a few tips on things to consider to make sure you are properly compensated for your time and services.
