1st Responders arrived at the scene of an accident and found one male down in the street. There was a crowd of people and CPR was started on the victim. He was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.
The crash occurred during an illegal street racing event. The male driver of the Ford Mustang (has been detained-blue hoodie) lost control and went up on the side hitting a water line and then hit a spectator and a motorcycle.
All of the cars involved were illegal street racers, with racing slicks for tires and had nitrous oxide tanks. Many of the people involved stayed at the scene, but most fled the scene when the Police officers arrived. The SDPD traffic division is investigating.
On October 10, 2021, there was a similar racing incident at this location, this street is known for illegal street racing.

San Diego – On October 31, 2021, at 05:58 a.m., the drivers of a Ford Mustang and Chevy
Nova was involved in an illegal street race in the 8800 block of Kerns Street. During the
race, the driver of the Ford Mustang lost control of the vehicle, drove onto the south
sidewalk, and struck a 33-year-old male pedestrian, who was standing in a driveway,
spectating. The male pedestrian sustained serious injuries and died at the scene.
The driver of the Ford Mustang remained at the scene and was identified as 28-year-old
Jason Clifford Dennell from Little Rock, California. Jason Dennell was arrested and
booked into County Jail for Felony Manslaughter and Felony Reckless Driving. The Chevy
Nova and its driver fled the scene before police arrived.
