Often people asked me some advices being a great guitar teacher. It’s simple! You got love guitars & people. You are making people happy! That’s this job. A lot of dedication and love, care about others.
So first you want to be a nice person! Be patient, well prepared and always want to learn. Don’t have any pride or any too much confidence in you! Be humble all the times.
I have been teaching here at Berklee since 1993. I have taught many students over 29 years. Before that I used to teach at small music stores and private lessons by my own.
Today I will be teaching from 8:30am to 12:30 then 1:30pm to 5:30pm for 8 hours. (15 people!)
Be able to teach well for all day. This is what I do. A day before teaching. I work out and practice a lot guitar. Then I go to bed at 10pm! Sleeping is so important for teaching. You need to have a good sleep for 7-8 hours!
I get up at 5:50am. Everything was ready to go. I made my sandwiches last night. I leave my house at 6:10am sharp! The I will arrived at the garage around 6:40 am. Then I walk to Berklee then I will set up for my teaching. I am well prepared!
Before lesson material or any contents, You want to be prepared well.
Your mind need to be very relaxed and sharp in same time.
Be positive no matter what!
