Noah Sears and I tried to ride and film this section last fall but unfortunately got into a bit of a sticky situation and had to pull the plug. There was just enough dry dirt to lure us in and just enough mud to clog everything we hold dear. After about an hour of struggling, we survived our "character building" mission and vowed to return the following year. The next day we filmed the bottom bit as an out and back. This is therefore the redemption run from Lands End Road to the exposed section. The general consensus around the top section is that it's actually not worth riding, so we began where things get fun, and were not disappointed. If you do this ride, it is definitely XC, so be prepared to pedal for every inch. If you approach the Plunge with that mindset, you will have fun. Unless you don't like exposure.... In which case, maybe choose something else to ride. I loved every inch of this middle bit. Part 2 to come next week..... Exposure is my friend. Grand Junction MTB at its pinnacle.
