Replacing coal plants in South Africa with renewables is ‘senseless destruction’

Centre for Industrial Process President Alex Epstein says there is no way to lower emissions humanely apart from discovering cost-competitive alternatives like nuclear energy.

US President Joe Biden recently announced $8 billion in funding would go to South Africa to help the country replace its coal plants with renewable energy.

Mr Epstein said it does not “do any good” to make poor countries “get even poorer”.

“It’s just this senseless destruction because people aren’t thinking through what’s actually good for human life,” he told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
